Sandy
is an energetic and interactive therapist who has served the London community
for over 30 years. A gold medalist in Psychology at the University of Western
Ontario, Sandy also received an MA in Psychology from Ohio State University.
Returning to London after her graduate degree, Sandy began working at the Addiction
Research Foundation of Ontario with alcoholics and their families. Her career
has included work with the Canadian Mental Health Association, the London Psychiatric
Hospital, and, since 1979, with the London Employee Assistance Consortium. Sandy
also operates her own private practice in individual, marital, and family counselling
and is a clinical associate for other EAP providers from the US and Canada.
She has been a clinical member of AAMFT/OAMFT since 1983.
Sandy believes that therapy should produce relief from stress through personal
growth and understanding. Providing an environment that is safe, supportive,
and challenging is her professional committment to this process. She has extensive
experience in a wide variety of problems and believes that her clients have
been her best teachers. Sandy and her husband, Jack Kaplun, also a therapist,
are parents and step-parents to four adult daughters. She has a strong belief
in the strength of the family and an appreciation for the complexities of relationships.
Moreover, she has great faith in the ability to heal through humour.
